Milton Brown, MD, PhD, is senior associate vice president of research at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University (ODU), where he leads research and innovation initiatives. A physician-scientist with over 26 years of experience, Brown’s work in drug discovery and development has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Defense (DoD). His research has produced more than 60 patents, over 100 peer-reviewed publications, and the founding of several biotech companies, including Trocar Pharma and Shuttle Pharmaceuticals.

He is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors and a recipient of the Percy L. Julian Award for significant contributions to biomedical and chemical research. Before joining ODU in 2022, Brown held leadership roles at George Mason University, the Inova Schar Cancer Institute, and Georgetown University. He has also served as advisor to the National Toxicology Program and American Chemical Society Medicinal Chemistry Division, and reviewed grants for the NIH and DoD.
