Mark Peters is president and CEO of MITRE, a not-for-profit technology company managing global R&D centers. He oversees 8,000+ employees, including experts in artificial intelligence, aerospace, telecommunications, homeland security, cyber, transportation, defense, intelligence, health, and government innovation. Peters is a recognized expert in nuclear energy and national security, having spent more than 25 years leading federally funded R&D centers.

Before MITRE, he was executive vice president for laboratory management and operations at Battelle Memorial Institute and held leadership roles at Argonne National Laboratory, Idaho National Laboratory, and Battelle Energy Alliance LLC. Peters is a fellow of the American Nuclear Society and serves on the Idaho Power Board and the National Academies Board on Human-Systems Integration. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2021.
