Mark McVey is an electrical transmission equipment and technology senior strategic advisor with 40 years’ experience at Dominion Energy. He has served as technical chair for CIGRE B3 Substations, convener of CIGRE Brochures 614 and 805, and advisor for CIGRE B3 AA3 air-insulated substations. McVey has chaired multiple Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) committees and serves on Virginia Tech’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Board. He has published over 30 papers and co-authored the CIGRE Substations Green Book and the Handbook for Electrical Engineers. His awards include the CIGRE Technical Council Award B3, U.S. National Committee of CIGRE Attwood Associates Award, CIGRE Pioneer E-session Achievement Award, U.S. National Committee Dale Douglass Award, and the Philip Sporn Award. He was elected an IEEE fellow in 2025.
