Liping Di is a distinguished university professor and the founding director of the Center for Spatial Information Science and Systems (CSISS), George Mason University.

He has engaged in geoinformatics, geospatial standards, agro-informatics, remote sensing, and GeoAI research for more than 30 years, published over 550 publications, and received research grants of more than $70 million.

He founded the International Society of Agromatics and has played leading roles in a number of professional societies and international organizations. He has received many awards for his work, such as the R&D100 Award from R&D Magazine, the Secretary’s Honor Award from the US Department of Agriculture, the Merit Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS).

He is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a fellow of the International Academy of Artificial Intelligence Sciences (AAIS).
