Tim is a doctoral candidate at the University of Virginia, where he studies Biomedical Engineering with a focus on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). His research centers on quantifying the underlying histology of brain tissue based on MRI tissue contrast. By leveraging advanced MRI methodologies, his work aims to develop noninvasive imaging biomarkers that reflect microstructural tissue properties. He is also working to translate these methods toward evaluating the effects of focused ultrasound interventions. Timothy previously earned his bachelor’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Biomedical Engineering, with a concentration in bioinstrumentation. Building on his technical foundation and attending the CASE workshop, he developed a stronger interest in interpreting novel technologies and understanding their implications for health technology policy.
