Janna Brown

Janna is a second-year PhD student in Civil Engineering at the University of Virginia, specializing in transportation engineering. Her current research focuses on vulnerable roadway users, and she is passionate about transportation equity and safety for all modes of traffic. She also serves on the Executive Board of the Science Policy Initiative (SPI) at UVA. Prior to returning to graduate school, Janna spent six years as a traffic engineer at a consulting firm working with state Departments of Transportation. She holds a Professional Engineering (PE) license in Delaware and Virginia and hopes to apply her experience in industry to help shape effective transportation policies that better align public benefit with infrastructure improvements.
