Alyson Gabbard Wilson is Vice Provost for Research at William & Mary. A statistician working at the intersection of statistical science and national security, she has spent three decades applying rigorous methods to high-consequence problems in defense.

At Los Alamos National Laboratory, she led the reliability-assessment methodology used to certify the nuclear stockpile after the end of underground testing — determining whether a system will perform when it cannot be fully tested. As Principal Investigator of the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences, she built a government-university-industry collaboration whose analytic methods are now in operational use across the intelligence community. Her work in defense operational test and evaluation — spanning missile defense, body armor, and weapons programs — has shaped how the military tests and fields complex systems.

She is a co-author of Bayesian Reliability and a Fellow of the American Statistical Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
